What you'll be doing
You will provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientists and Research Specialists. This involves:
- Assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies.
- Conducting field and/or lab work specific to the project
- Data acquisition and analysis
- Database management
- Preparing and writing report
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is an advanced diploma and/or a degree specializing in geomatics.
- You have a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork. With specific experience in GIS software including Arc GIS as well as image processing skills using PCI Catalyst and some programming in Python. You have experience in the collection of geomatics field data including water level sensors, time lapse cameras, drone operation and support as well as survey grade GNSS.
- You possess occupational experience that includes managing projects, report writing, conducting fieldwork and analysis in the office.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail. You are familiar with the image classification functionality of Arc Map and Arc Pro and have experience with this software application.
- You have experience with processing high-resolution satellite imagery and conducting supervised classification of coastal environments.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.

- You have a proven ability to follow instructions
- You are able to perform all physical duties of the job as required
- You possess strong communication skills for generating technical reports.
- A valid driver's license would be considered an asset.
