Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management
Forestry and Environmental Management (ForEM) operates as a single entity but offers two undergraduate programs, a variety of research and professional Masters programs, and one PhD program. There are 18 teaching staff, 3 administrative support staff, 2 technicians, and 1 student advisor and outreach coordinator. There are currently 247 undergraduate students and 127 graduate students. ForEM has space in three buildings on the University campus; the IUC Forestry building, the Forest/Geology building, and the Tweeddale Centre housing the Wood Science Technology Centre with additional office space for ForEM research groups within the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:45 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Salary Range: $51,238 - $66,609 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Dean, the Technical Team Lead is responsible for operational management, maintenance of Faculty facilities, research and technical support, and ensuring safe working conditions and practices are adopted and implemented Faculty-wide.
- Provide technical and logistical support to undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Manage and coordinate greenhouse activities.
- Act as Safety Officer and chair the Faculty Safety Committee.
- Administer chemical tracking system (Chematix) and maintain personnel training records.
- Work with Facilities Management on alterations, renovations, and general maintenance issues. Represent the ForEM Faculty in building and renovation projects.
- Manage the Faculty Equipment Room. Review the equipment inventory, schedule use and maintenance of the equipment, assess faculty needs and purchase new equipment.
- Manage equipment loans and return via Web Checkout software for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Review and recommend space allocation and building conditions. Make recommendations to the Dean.
- Oversee and facilitate the ForEM Faculty Truck, regular sign-out.
- Maintains campus tree inventory.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-Secondary in the Science or Forestry Field (BScF, BSc in Natural Resource Management or Diploma).
- 2 years of relevant work experience in forest or natural resource management.
Additional Strengths:
- Familiarity with a range of forestry and natural resource technical work including field and laboratory procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
- Capabilities in supervision and administration.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Ability to solve problems and multi-task.
- Eligible to become a member of the Association of Registered Professional Foresters of NB (ARPFNB) would be considered an asset
