Job Details:
Reporting to the Director, Technology & Infrastructure Services, the Security and Training Specialist plays a critical role in the cyber security program. The role is responsible for the management of the security awareness and education program as well as assisting with creating, sourcing, and presenting other IT related training content. Additionally, this role is responsible for the management of elements of the vulnerability management processes.
- Design and oversee system security testing
- Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies
- Perform Vulnerability assessments and make recommendation for remediation
- Develop a security awareness program including policies, procedures and a measurement framework
- Responsible for the development and delivery of education and training
- Engage with staff to ensure adoption of effective information security practices
- Provide regular and timely reporting on the status of the information security program
- Work with senior staff to investigate and resolve incidents
- Coordinates content development and delivery of IT training

Minimum qualifications:
- University degree with major course work in computer science, information technology plus a minimum of five years related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Related experience may include knowledge of ITIL standards and processes, network security control environments and architecture, including, system administration, intrusion detection, network architecture, enterprise threat management, perimeter controls
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience with some or all the following, networks environments and architecture, including, firewalls, routers, switches, intrusion detection systems, Microsoft Windows, and Linux Operating systems, Authentication systems, cryptography, and network protocols, such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, ICMP
- Industry relevant security training, certification or experience in cyber security incident response, security assessment, and/or penetration testing
- Experience or familiarity with tools such as Wireshark, Kali Linux, and Metasploit
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in the identification and resolution of system security risks
- Proven judgment and initiative skills to prioritize responsibilities and resolve problems
- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written skills in order to work collaboratively with others and to communicate in a manner that is simple, clear and easy to understand
- Demonstrated ability to deliver training content to an audience
Nice-to-haves:
- Industry relevant security certifications e.g., CISSP, GCIH, GPEN CTT+, MCSE, and MCT
- Currently holds, or working towards, ITIL standards certification
- Experience with patch management
- Experience with Beauceron Security products or other security awareness training systems
Job Status: Permanent (full-time); unionized (NSGEU)
Work Arrangement: On-site working model
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
Salary Range: $73,500 - $86,100 (yearly)
