MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

*** Surrette Battery offers very flexible shifts, on a permanent, non-rotating basis. In general, all manufacturing employees work 3 or 4 days a week. ***

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, our ideal candidate has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will also be responsible for the daily repair and emergency breakdown of machinery.

A Maintenance specialist at Surrette Battery will also require a fair amount of physical labour and handling of tools, equipment, materials as well as products up to 45kg (100lbs).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup equipment for production
  • Repair production equipment as well as facilities where required
  • Tech
  • Troubleshooting emergency breakdowns as necessary
  • Preventative maintenance, fixing breakdowns and/or replacing parts on many different production machines.
  • Fabrication by drilling, welding, operating many power tools as required to fix machines or build new parts
  • Working with different systems including: pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated equipment
  • Reading blueprints, diagrams and schematic diagrams

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provincially recognized credentials for Industrial Mechanic / Millwright / Electrician or Technical training
  • Forklift experience
  • WHIMIS or First Aid tickets, (asset as training will be provided)
  • 2 to 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Licensed Journeyman or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
  • Able to problem solve and use critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Able to follow oral and written directions
  • Able to function well in a team environment and to communicate clearly with others
  • Being flexible and adaptable
  • Having a proactive/preventive approach
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Being punctual and reliable
  • Experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a similar environment would be a definite asset
