Name and brief description of the hiring department:

We are a team of information technology professionals that delivers high quality software solutions for Bell Business Markets. Our team's main domains are order acquisition and order fulfillment for small, medium, large, and enterprise customers. We require a senior specialist, technical consulting with a focus on our infrastructure across the domain. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Application Architecture in Bell's SMB/BBM Order Acquisition and Fulfillment team.

Job duties/accountabilities:

  • With the appropriate successful candidate, this role would ultimately lead our IT Transformation initiative from Technical Platform Upgrade through to a complete redefinition of our Delivery Processes and all Change Management activities implicated therein
  • Coordinate with the assessment team, delivery team and vendors to ensure the district's infrastructure can support proposed changes on a release basis.
  • Coordinate the necessary checkpoints on application performance with the user community, review and implement appropriate resolutions with the necessary vendor(s).
  • Drive the district's transformational mandate from pure waterfall to a more agile delivery framework including the definition of the overall strategy and implementation of the associated tools and competencies
  • Evolve and deliver improvements to the district`s tools, processes, and approaches to software delivery. Specifically focusing on opportunities to reduce our costs to support projects, improve test cycles, and improve the quality of the delivery programs.
  • Prime the district`s licensing and infrastructure requirements including financial impacts across all applications
  • Interface with different teams using Agile framework, waterfall framework, and hybrid approaches in delivering updates to the applications and infrastructure
  • Prepare and manage the release schedules for the different applications across the district
  • Provide status updates on projects and initiatives as required
  • Manage VPN groups for various support vendors and firewall changes for all managed applications
  • Oversee server currency program keeping Operating System, Database, and application software at the latest stable and secure version.
  • Lead the districts environment management activities and requirements including CPU and PSU patching as needed.
  • Review and provide feedback on development deliverables and assessments within the district.
  • Support the project delivery teams to deal with challenges and defect resolution during testing and implementation phases
  • Mentor and coach the Infrastructure team resources and effectively apply the Objective Performance process.

Experience with IT Transformation initiatives, Tool Automation and DevOps is a critical item.

The following skills and competencies are essential for the position:

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or similar formal educational background.
  • 5 to 8 years of related experience delivering scalable enterprise systems preferably as an environment manager, or technical advisor.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with an exceptional ability for time management, task prioritization and negotiation skills.
  • Able to work under pressure, either autonomously or with others within a multi-domain team environment.
  • Strong technical writing skills (ability to write clearly and concisely).
  • Strong trouble shooting skills (ability to uncover issues rapidly and provide resolution).
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable with a high tolerance for ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding information technology systems.
  • Ability to build bridges with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with strong time-management skills.
Preferred skills / competencies:

Job duties will be customized based on the successful candidate's experience, strengths, and developmental goals. Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an asset to the team, but are not essential requirements to be successful in the position. The following areas also represent development opportunities that come with this position and with working in the order acquisition and fulfillment domain.

  • Experience with user-facing applications, specifically CRM tools.
  • Understanding of Cloud models
  • Experience with Oracle;s Siebel or OSM products
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Sybase and experience with PL/SQL and T-SQL
  • Verbal and written communication skills in both English and French
  • Knowledge of both waterfall and agile project delivery frameworks.

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
