The BCE Tax Group is responsible for managing all tax affairs of BCE, Bell Canada and their affiliated companies, including income, capital, property, 911, sales and utility taxes. The BCE Tax Group also participates in special projects involving Legal, Treasury, M&A, Corporate Development and Business Operations.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director - Commodity Taxes, the Manager - Commodity Taxes will be responsible to ensure BCE and its affiliated companies comply with the different commodity tax laws and regulations. The manager will oversee the various billing systems and will actively work to improve commodity taxes related processes. 

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Support the BCE Group entities for commodity tax (GST/HST, QST and PST);
  • Improve processes to ensure commodity taxes compliance and cost reduction;
  • Work with IT and the business to ensure correct application of commodity taxes
  • Prepare documents requested by the tax authorities as part of commodity tax audits and keep a good relationship with people gathering the information; 
  • Provide project management and tax assistance on special projects, including tax rate and rule changes, introduction of new taxes, etc. in Bell systems and processes;
  • Investigate tax discrepancies within the various billing systems;
  • Direct Report: none

Competencies:

  • Accounting knowledge; CPA designation, a plus
  • Ability to fully oversee and manage tax projects and engage the proper departments;
  • Team player a must
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, SAP, BI, NM1, Microstrategy
  • Knowledge of data analytics such as the use of Alteryx, a plus
