The Investment Operations Officer ("Officer") is responsible for supporting all functions of the Investment Operations Team, which includes the investment administration, accounting and reporting of the Clients under the administration of Nova Scotia Pension Services Corporation ("Pensions Services Corp."). The core focus of the Officer will be executing investment transactions, communicating with the custodian and other parties as well as month/quarter-end investment accounting and reporting, and year-end audit support.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 plus 3 years accepted professional accounting training plus 5 year's investment fund administration experience or related field is essential; or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Business/Commerce degree, majoring in Accounting or Finance
  • Completion of, or enrolment in, a formal accounting designation such as CPA (CMA, CGA, CA) or CFA, would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is required; IFRS experience would be an asset
  • Experience with accounting systems would be an asset
  • Experience using Bloomberg would be an asset
  • Preference will be given to candidates with investment securities-related experience
  • Advanced level of technical skills in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Time management, analytical, decision making and problem solving skills are needed to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Effective interpersonal skills, professional writing and verbal communication skills

Job Status: Permanent - Bargaining Unit (NSGEU) Position

Work Arrangement: On-site working model

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

Salary Range: $2,221.33 - $2,612.30 (bi-weekly)
