Acadia seeks a professional accountant to fill the role of Manager, Research Accounting within the Financial Services Department to be responsible for all financial aspects of research grants and funding on behalf of the faculty and staff. Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, the Manager, Research Accounting is a key member of the Financial Services team.
The role will be focused on all aspects of financial support, including but not limited to, involvement in research proposals, establishing all financial accounts related to research, monitoring of research expenses, reporting to funding agencies/corporations as mandated, communicating on financial progress with researchers, and preparing audit files related to research activities. The incumbent will be required to ensure all financial activity related to research follows GAAP, University, and grant-specific policies. The candidate will work with Financial Services and Research & Graduate Studies to develop and enhance research specific policies and procedures.
In addition, the incumbent will assist the Director, Financial Services on strategic and operational ad hoc projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in accounting and have obtained a CPA designation.
- In addition, the candidate will have at least 5 years of work experience as an accountant with increasing level of responsibility over this time.
- The role will require someone who excels at balancing numerous tasks and responsibilities while managing unique timelines.
- We are seeking applicants who possess strong communication skills and the ability to clearly convey financial details to internal and external stakeholders.
- The successful candidate will also have a strong aptitude for technology and will be required to identify opportunities for data integration between internal files, the university's financial system and external reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated competence with standard Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access, Word, Teams, Outlook and PowerPoint) is required.
THE REWARDS: Acadia offers a comprehensive benefit package in addition to a starting salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $58,244 - $61,072 per annum (AUPAT Level 6).
