Job Details:
This role reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the full execution of AISC's communications and events activities. Being multimedia savvy, you will lead the development of AISC's short-term and long-term communications strategies and action plans.
You will coordinate AISC's communications in verbal, written, print, digital and social media formats, among others, following a prescribed strategy approved by the Board. You will act as a resource to the GM, Board, Members and Working Group teams with respect to designing and implementing content and materials. You will also act occasionally as a marketing-communications resource for the member organizations, guiding social media plans and other marketing tactics. In partnership with members, you will also envision, coordinate and execute in-person and virtual, multi-sector business events (i.e. trade shows, job fairs, conferences, professional development panels.)
You will work in a highly collaborative and energetic environment and will carry out the communications and events with a proactive attitude. Professionalism, initiative, work ethic, output quality, and the ability to meet deadlines are of prime importance. You will be required to perform at a high level of competency and independence.
Develops an action plan to execute the Board's communications strategy
Executes the action plan through the writing/production of regular communications and marketing collateral
Develops consistent messaging and a strong identity for the organization using best practices
Acts as AISC's primary website content contributor and webmaster
Produces brochures, info-graphics, and other creative collateral both in house and by managing sub-contractors
Executes a public relations plan and issues media releases
Follows and monitors stakeholders' social media channels. Develops and manages written and visual social media content for AISC's channels
Prepares and issues Annual Report, Newsletters, presentations, blogs
Supports the GM with any additional marketing/communication initiatives, such as market research and analysis through personal meetings and presentations, primary and secondary research
Collaborates with internal teams. Provides Communications guidance and support to multiple project Working Groups to ensure the WGs share project progress and announce initiative launches upon completion.
Coordinates the communication of Labour Market Information (LMI):
Manages the design of an online dashboard for collecting and sharing multi-sector economic and labour market data
Guides member organizations on effective use of social media by developing and delivering workshops on social media fundamentals, and working with each organization on a customized social media strategy.
Envisions, prepares and executes event plans for multi-sector workshops, seminars, conferences, trade shows, job fairs etc.
Offers Communications guidance support to the Board and General Manager as assigned, such as speech writing, fostering community relationships, grant writing, any emergency communications
Supports AISC with other communications and marketing tasks as assigned.
Works independently and in teams to complete all tasks and projects in a timely manner and with great attention to detail.
This position requires excellent judgment and an ability to balance multiple priorities under deadlines with a strong eye for attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Strong interpersonal, communication and administration skills are essential as is confidentiality and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team environment.
University degree or College diploma in a field relevant to communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing plus four (4) years of work experience in a wide variety of marketing functions including communications, branding, digital marketing and social media, plus business event management. (Equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.)
Ability to balance multiple priority projects
Experience creating compelling, engaging, and ROI-driven digital content
Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear and grammatically correct content
Experience designing reports, infographics, brochures
Demonstrated oral communication skills sufficient to convey information in a clear and concise way
Experience using various social media platforms and advanced knowledge of social media engagement strategies
An artistic eye and graphic design skills considered assets.
You possess intermediate skills in MS Office products, including MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
You are Creative - you possess intermediate skills - or at least a lot of curiosity and courage - with MS Publisher and Adobe Creative Suite
You are adept with videoconferencing, Dropbox, Google Docs, Eventbrite.
You possess intermediate skills with Website updates (ie. WordPress, Canva, Easy WebContent), social media (Twitter, Linked In, Sprout or Hootsuite) and e-newsletter (ie Mail Chimp.)
Eagerness to stay up-to-date with current marketing trends and related technologies in communications, marketing, social media, design tools and applications.

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 9 months with potential for extension

Location: Ragged Lake Industrial Park (Halifax Transit Route #22)
Hours: Full-time, 8:30-4:30 Mon-Fri. Occasionally, hours outside of regular business hours.
Salary: $32-$34 per hour
