We are looking for a journalist with keen news judgement, an eagerness to break stories and a clean, clear writing style. We require a reporter who will quickly get immersed in assignments, thoroughly researching and reporting news and feature stories to tight deadlines, and be enterprising and dig up exclusive stories. We are seeking an experienced team player who is equally at ease working independently. From breaking news and crime reporting to local and regional politics, business and culture, our reporters are driven by a commitment to public service journalism. This full-time position is within the collective agreement and based in Saint John, New Brunswick.
This is an opportunity to work with award-winning journalists in building a digital audience for our successful subscription-based digital news service while continuing a tradition of excellence in print.
Qualifications:
- University or college-level studies in journalism or related education
- Previous newsroom experience
- A demonstrated ability to produce detailed, accurate work under deadline pressure
- Working knowledge of and experience using social media
- Highly developed organizational skills -- able to multi-task in high-stress situations
- An excellent command of the English language; fluency in spoken and written French would be an asset
- Photography and videography skills are required
- A solid understanding of media law
- A car and valid driver's license
