PHARMACY OVERVIEW
Horizon's Pharmacy team plays a big role in managing the health of patients and clients. Horizon has over 230 pharmacy staff, including over 100 pharmacists. Our pharmacy staff work in outpatient clinics and on patient care units in large and small hospitals. They work as part of a collaborative team with many other health care providers.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for performing delegated checking functions and for acquiring, preparing, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical products.
HOURS OF WORK
Days, Evenings, Statutory Holidays; Rotations
JOB DUTIES
  • Performing delegated checking functions
  • Recording and updating medication orders
  • Preparing and labelling pharmaceutical products including sterile and oncology ad mixtures
  • Packaging drugs for dispensing and preparing bulk solutions and other compounds
  • Delivering drugs to patient care areas
  • Controlling and maintaining pharmaceutical inventory
  • Ordering and receiving pharmaceutical products and supplies

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Recognized post-secondary Pharmacy Technician training program. Certified or eligible to be certified in delegated checking functions.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required
