Advocate Printing & Publishing is searching for an enthusiastic, energetic and outgoing Estimator to join our growing team. Every Estimator has the potential to have an impact on customer success - when customers succeed, we all do.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing pricing & cost analyses that ensure clients receive the most cost-effective and competitive pricing proposals while achieving company revenue, quality and profit expectations. Reporting to the Manager, the Estimator may collaborate with various co-workers; sales, customer service, pre-media, press production, signs & banners, digital operations, post-press and other areas amongst several sales locations and production plants. These all affect pricing to determine estimating proposals with suggested work processes, practices, procedures and production methods.

- Previous experience in a print environment (estimating, sales, production) or equivalent experience is a definite asset.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Receive and examine Requests for Quotes (RFQ) specifications, sketches, and sample layouts to calculate production 'costs' consisting of labour, materials and outside costs while taking into consideration production abilities and anticipated spoilage.
- Work with Sales Management, Customer Service team members and our Customers - to develop appropriate production plans and pricing based on the needs of the customer and the company while keeping Advocate capabilities in mind.
- Communicate with department heads, production personnel and/or outside vendors to obtain information regarding various time elements.
- Work as a member/team lead for special or on-going projects that are important for continuous 'best practice' development/improvement.
- Willingness to use/learn Enterprise MIS and other Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word to prepare, summarize and present costs, markups and pricing.
- Willingness to learn how to use beneficial reports and provide sales, administrative and production feedback to enhance continuous improvement.
- Check repetitive, revised or copied dockets to ensure processes and material costs are up to date.
- Willingness to research vendors, customers and products to ensure product knowledge.
- Must acquire a broad knowledge base of all equipment and divisions so one can act as a back-up when other Estimators are not available.
- Open purchase orders for estimated outside services and be willing to assist CSRs/Production in their tracking of outside production for on time delivery.
- Comply with company policies, procedure guidelines, and health and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
