Job Details:

In-person

  • Join a company that has completely revolutionized custom manufacturing for engineers and designers all over the world.
  • Use your big-picture thinking and proven experience in managing quality standards, particularly AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015, across all Protocase departments to ensure the company remains compliant with its quality certifications, and continuously improves.

  • Live and work in Cape Breton, a wonderful community that has quick commutes, affordable homes on generous plots of land, beautiful scenery and friendly people.

Protocase is currently seeking a Quality Systems Manager to join its team in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We are growing rapidly, and continually improving our capabilities and procedures to ensure we are offering our customers the very best in custom manufacturing in terms of speed, simplicity and service.

In 2017, Protocase officially became ISO 9001:2015 registered and AS9100D certified, after more than a decade of deploying its own ISO-like quality standards system. In order for us to uphold our quality standards and procedures, we need a Quality Systems Manager to oversee and lead all aspects of maintaining our quality standards and certifications that we have achieved.

In order to thrive in this role, you must be well versed in ISO standards and/or AS9100 quality standards, and be able to apply these standards with a practical, common-sense approach.

Above all else, you must never lose sight of our goal to consistently make exactly what our customers want. The key to your ongoing success will be your ability to continually take a big-picture view in order to spot trends and deficiencies, and not get too lost in the details.

Responsibilities

As Quality Systems Manager, your core duties will include:

  • Overseeing the structure, improvement and compliance of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensuring QMS processes, procedures, forms, templates and other documents are kept up to date.
  • Arranging and conducting regular internal audits on compliance with the QMS.
  • Making arrangements for external audits as required.
  • Ensuring all departments are continuously improving through corrective action and follow-up.
  • Working with Process Owners to monitor and control QMS Key Performance Indicators.

Above all else, you need to be proactive and communicative with all departments within the company to successfully maintain Protocase’s quality standards, as they are essential to our continued growth. Your practical and firm, yet fair, approach to this position will take you far.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Business or a related field)
  • Five or more years of experience working with quality systems, ideally in an industrial environment
  • Solid understanding of AS9100D and/or ISO9001:2015 quality standards
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset
  • Critical thinking and complex problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Extremely high attention to detail, especially in terms of auditing
  • A strong sense of urgency while working on multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure and handle stressful situations
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
