Competitive salary of $65,000–$80,000, based on experience, with benefits and a collaborative team culture.

Our client, an established manufacturing organization, is seeking a Buyer to join its operations team. This individual will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the production hardware, equipment parts, maintenance supplies and services needed to keep the operation running efficiently.

Working closely with production, maintenance, inventory and suppliers, the Buyer will manage purchasing activities and stock levels, help prevent production delays, and identify opportunities to improve cost and supplier performance. This is a hands-on opportunity for a purchasing professional who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and solving practical challenges.

The Role:

  • Manage the purchasing of production hardware and fasteners, equipment parts, tooling, maintenance supplies, PPE and operational services.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, lead times and service.
  • Issue purchase orders, monitor outstanding orders and communicate delivery updates to internal teams.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance to anticipate requirements and ensure critical parts and supplies are available.
  • Expedite urgent orders and identify alternative parts or suppliers to help minimize equipment downtime and production disruptions.
  • Monitor hardware and MRO inventory, establish appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels, and support cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, blanket orders and service agreements with suppliers.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate purchasing, reduce costs and improve supplier performance.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, returns, warranties and invoicing.
  • Coordinate purchasing for equipment repairs, facility maintenance and other contracted services, ensuring contractors meet company safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information and inventory transactions within the ERP system.
  • Track purchasing and inventory metrics, including costs, lead times, supplier performance and stock availability.
  • Support improvements to purchasing, inventory and storage processes.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years of purchasing, procurement or stores experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience purchasing production hardware, fasteners, equipment parts, tooling, MRO supplies or related services.
  • Working knowledge of industrial equipment and components, with the ability to collaborate with maintenance and production teams to identify parts and requirements.
  • Understanding of purchasing processes and inventory management, including stock levels and cycle counts.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and managing ongoing vendor relationships.
  • Comfortable working closely with production and maintenance teams in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requirements.
  • Analytical and commercially minded, with the ability to evaluate pricing, lead times and supplier performance.
  • Confident communicator who can build productive relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of purchasing activities.
  • Experience working with ERP, MRP, purchasing or inventory management systems.
  • Strong Excel and general computer skills.
  • A diploma or degree in supply chain, business, operations or a related discipline is an asset.
