Role Overview
We are looking for a Seibi Paint Technician to support Client's Paint Process Engineering team in developing, programming, and optimizing industrial robots used in automotive paint shop operations.
The role involves a mix of hands-on shop-floor work and office-based digital engineering, including robot programming, offline simulation, commissioning, teaching, and paint quality adjustments.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, teach, and optimize industrial paint robots.
- Perform offline robot simulations and develop digital engineering programs for shop-floor implementation.
- Support commissioning and quality adjustments across paint processes, including sealer, underbody coating, primer, topcoat, and plastics.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, manufacturing plants, and vendors to implement robust robotic processes.
- Coordinate project activities, troubleshoot issues, and support production launches and shutdowns.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Technical certificate, diploma, or degree in Industrial Robotics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with industrial robot programming and teaching, ideally with Kawasaki robots; experience with FANUC, ABB, Motoman, or similar platforms is also relevant.
- Exposure to offline robot simulation tools such as CARROT 3, RobotStudio, or CATIA-based tools.
- Ability to adjust robot parameters to achieve required process quality.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and overtime as project requirements dictate.
- Ability to travel between Cambridge and Woodstock, with potential travel to the U.S., Mexico, and other international locations.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Paint shop or Seibi experience.
- PLC programming experience.
- Familiarity with Elcometer, Wavescan, or X-Rite measurement equipment.
- Co-op or hands-on industrial robotics/maintenance experience for entry-level candidates.
