Legal Entity Controller - Full-Time

We are hiring a Legal Entity Controller to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial and regulatory reporting for assigned legal entities within a regulated banking or financial services environment. You will act as a trusted control partner to the business and support functions, safeguarding legal entity financial integrity while enabling sound decision-making and regulatory compliance. This position offers exposure to complex legal entity structures, month-end close processes, statutory and regulatory reporting, and governance forums across a global financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for assigned legal entities, including review and approval of journal entries, parent/child accounting, equity pickup (EPU), capital hedges, inter-entity break resolution, and monitoring of unnatural general ledger balances.
• Prepare, review, and deliver accurate standalone and consolidated financial statements under applicable standards (e.g. IFRS, or local GAAP), including analytical reviews, flux analysis, balance sheet substantiation, and management commentary.
• Coordinate and support statutory financial reporting and local regulatory returns (e.g., liquidity, capital, or entity-specific filings to relevant regulators), ensuring alignment with close calendars, control frameworks, and governance requirements.
• Perform analytical reviews of legal entity financial results, identify key business drivers and variances, and prepare clear commentary and packs for senior management, Board, or regulatory forums.
• Maintain a strong control environment: enforce reconciliation standards, manage breaks and aged items, support SOX/internal control testing, and drive root-cause remediation.
• Partner closely with Product Controllers, Financial Control, Tax, Treasury, Operations, Risk/Compliance, and business finance teams to coordinate deliverables, resolve issues, and support accurate income/expense attributions, allocations, and transfer pricing impacts.
• Support audit readiness by liaising with internal and external auditors, preparing documentation, and responding to requests related to legal entity financials.
• Monitor accounting and regulatory developments and assess impacts on legal entity reporting and controls; contribute to process improvements, automation, and operating model enhancements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification preferred (e.g., CPA, CA or equivalent).
• 5–8+ years of progressive experience in controllership, financial reporting, or legal entity control within a regulated banking or financial services environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with month-end close processes, financial statement preparation/review, reconciliations, and US GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Proven ability to work with complex legal entity structures and multi-entity reporting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear executive-level commentary and presentations.
• Proficiency with Excel and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent ERP/GL tools); experience with reporting or close tools is advantageous.
