Compensation: $35.00 per hour, with higher compensation available for qualified candidates
Schedule: Part-time, 2–3 days per week
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Our client, a machine shop located in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario, is seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Programmer and Operator specializing in CNC milling machines to join their team.
This is a part-time temporary opportunity requiring 2–3 days of work per week, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC milling programming and operating experience and be comfortable managing machining tasks independently in a machine shop environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate, modify, and edit CNC milling programs using Mastercam 9 or Autodesk Fusion.
Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications.
Set up workpieces and cutting tools in CNC milling machines.
Select, load, and organize the appropriate tools in the machine's tool carousel.
Operate and monitor CNC milling machines while programs are running, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary program adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy.
Ensure CNC machines and equipment are operated safely and efficiently.
Clean CNC milling machines and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
Safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Use crane equipment and appropriate lifting accessories to handle steel blocks weighing more than 50 lbs.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Minimum of 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a CNC Programmer and Operator, specifically working with CNC milling machines.
Proven experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines.
Proficiency with Mastercam 9 or Autodesk Fusion for CNC programming.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and CNC machine setup.
Ability to work independently in a machine shop environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to safely lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable using crane equipment and lifting accessories to handle heavier materials.
Must be available to work 2–3 days per week, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Must be able to commute to Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario.
Machinist certification or a diploma in a related field.
Crane training and certification.
Familiarity with KeyCreator software.
Additional experience with CNC programming software and machining applications.
