PART-TIME LANDSCAPER/ GARDENER

Part-Time Landscaper / Gardener

Root to Rise Farm – Pitt Meadows, BC

Root to Rise Farm is looking for a reliable, experienced and hands-on Part-Time Landscaper / Gardener to help care for our farm, gardens and surrounding property in Pitt Meadows.

This is a varied outdoor position ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in a beautifully maintained property, and has experience with both landscaping and food gardening.

The Role

Our property includes landscaped areas, lawns, gardens, fruit and vegetable production, and other farm spaces that require regular care and attention throughout the growing season.

Responsibilities will include:

• General landscape and garden maintenance
• Mowing, trimming, edging and weed control
• Planting, pruning and maintaining garden beds
• Caring for vegetable crops, berries and fruit
• Monitoring watering and irrigation needs
• Recognizing when crops are ready for harvest
• Harvesting vegetables and fruit as required
• Identifying basic plant, pest and disease issues
• Seasonal cleanup and general property maintenance
• Operating and maintaining landscaping and farm equipment
• Helping with other farm projects as needed
• Preparing and creating new plots for growing expansion

What We're Looking For

We would love to find someone who:

• Has previous landscaping, gardening, horticulture or farming experience
• Has practical knowledge of growing vegetables and/or fruit
• Is comfortable using common landscaping equipment and power tools
• Can work independently and recognize what needs to be done without constant direction
• Is dependable, organized and takes pride in their work
• Is physically capable of performing outdoor work including lifting, bending and working in varying weather conditions
• Has good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn

John Deere tractor experience is an asset, but not required. We are happy to train the right person who is comfortable around equipment and eager to learn.

What Makes This Role Different

This isn't simply a lawn-maintenance position. Root to Rise is a working farm as well as a thoughtfully maintained property.

One day might involve mowing and trimming; another could include planting, harvesting vegetables, pruning, irrigation, weeding, or helping solve a problem in the garden.

We are looking for someone who enjoys that variety and has the ability to look around, identify what needs attention, and get it done.
