Project Coordinator – Telecommunications Construction
Position Summary
BAAC Construction is hiring an organized, proactive Project Coordinator to support the delivery of telecommunications construction projects across Alberta.
Working closely with the Project Manager and field operations, you will keep projects running smoothly behind the scenes, managing schedules, locates, documentation, data, tracking, and reporting, and coordinating day to day with contractors and stakeholders.
This position is ideal for someone with a telecommunications construction background who is confident with locates and data management, wants more ownership, and is comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, growing company.
Location
- Reporting office located in Calgary, Alberta
What You'll Do
Locates
- Submit, track, and renew locate requests through Utility Safety Partners
- Monitor ticket status and expiry dates so crews are never held up
- Coordinate with locators and keep contractors informed of locate status
Project Data & Document Control
- Enter and maintain accurate, up-to-date project data, including production, locates, permits, and field records
- Maintain project documentation and document control, including:
- Drawings and permits
- Contracts
- RFIs and change orders
- Daily reports, field reports, and site photos
- Assemble as-builts, test results, and close-out packages
Scheduling, Tracking & Reporting
- Update project schedules and trackers with field progress, and prepare look-ahead reports for the Project Manager
- Track production quantities and reconcile them against subcontractor invoices
- Support purchase orders and cost tracking
- Maintain the project permit and approvals tracker with the permitting team, flagging upcoming expiries and conditions
- Prepare weekly progress reports and dashboards
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with field personnel and operations to keep information flowing between the field and the office
- Schedule and coordinate project meetings, record minutes, and follow up on action items
- Act as a point of contact for contractors, landowners, and municipalities on routine matters, and log all communications
Safety
- Support safety documentation, including orientations, hazard assessments, and incident reporting
What You Bring
Required Experience
- Hands-on experience in fibre or telecommunications construction, ideally in Alberta, with a solid understanding of field activities and terminology
- Confident with locate processes and submitting and managing requests through Utility Safety Partners
- Familiarity with construction drawings, document control, and permitting processes
- Comfortable coordinating directly with field personnel and operations
Technical Skills
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Experience maintaining trackers, databases, and reporting tools
- Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, and Trimble Construction One is considered an asset
