Job Details:
The key role of the Maintenance Technician is to ensure Capsule Factory products are manufactured according to Natural and Non-prescription Health Product (NNHPD) regulations and to ensure quality compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This position ensures SOP's for safety, quality, and production are maintained and results are delivered against specific improvement goals. This position develops and manages processes and systems to meet current and future business need. The Maintenance Technician is responsible to diagnose equipment malfunction, determine root cause and initiate immediate and long-term corrections. Manage the daily activities to ensure production and maintenance needs are met and targets achieved for the department in a safe manner and through maximizing the use of Quality systems. Complete work assignments required within budget, manpower and timing constraints and, will establish, implement and maintain long-range plans for improvement. Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing departments, implement and maintain Preventive Maintenance program and documentation.
Qualifications/ Behavioural Requirements:
· Knowledge and understanding of GMP and Health Canada Regulations for Natural health Products and food an asset
· Excellent mechanical aptitude- able to read blueprints, experience with maintaining high speed packaging equipment,
· Previous Maintenance experience working in a food or pharmaceutical plant an asset
· Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and responsibilities
· Effective Communicator- effective listener, encourage open communication and sharing of ideas amongst team members.
· Excellent problem solving and organizational skills- able to multitask
· Deliver Results- Reliable, consistent and self -motivated
· Certifications/Experience- BA/BS degree or the equivalent practical experience
· Qualification as a recognized mechanical or electrical tradesperson, combined with a valid Ontario certificate, technical school education and at least 5 years maintenance experience
· Solid understanding of equipment, manufacturing processes, maintenance and quality standards
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Experience working with Maintenance Planning software or an understanding of Preventative Maintenance systems
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct plant operations to manage and co-ordinate the manufacturing of products, compliance of GMP
Work closely with production scheduling, warehouse, to effectively coordinate preventative maintenance scheduling.
Troubleshoot specific equipment reliability, operability and maintainability issues and provide feedback to support reprioritization of work on a risk rank basis and provide support and guidance to supervisors to implement maintenance programs and troubleshoot maintenance issues
Ensure equipment is prepped and permitted for scheduled maintenance work to occur
Actively involved in taking the lead and ownership on delivering Continuous Improvement projects and working with other teams to provide support.
Adhere to Health and Safety training to provide a safe working environment and SOP regulatory compliance
Work closely with the Plant Manager to assist in the identification of drive improvements and maintain plant infrastructure
Maintain environment that includes proper interpretation and application of GMP and SOPS's, also company policies and legal compliance
Communicate with the production scheduler, Plant Manager to review the scheduled plant production and set priorities for repairs.
Develop and effectively use reporting systems to inform operating and managerial personnel of the factory improvements
Adhere to Good Documentation Practices and record keeping
Oversee Pest Management
Corrective and preventative action implementation
Making recommendations to improve efficiencies and productivity
Manage tight deadlines
Source and supervise the activities of outside contractors
