Engineering Maintenance Special Projects-Carpet Cleaner 6 month Contract with potential to extend

There's nothing quite like walking into a hotel that feels fresh, clean, and well-maintained — and you help make that happen. As part of the Engineering Maintenance team, you take pride in keeping the property in top shape by performing preventative maintenance and hands-on repairs throughout the hotel. Whether fixing a leaky faucet, patching drywall, or replacing a light switch, your work is key to ensuring guests have a safe and comfortable stay. The main focus of this role will be carpet cleaning.

You work both independently and alongside the Chief Engineer and the rest of the team to take on a variety of maintenance tasks, always staying ready to help where needed. In the role of Engineering Maintenance, you will:

• Be a Hands-On Problem Solver - Perform basic property repairs including air conditioner maintenance (changing filters, cleaning coils, replacing blower motors), plumbing repairs (changing washers, stems, cartridges, and fittings), light electrical work (replacing switches, receptacles, bulbs), furniture repairs, tile work, and wall repairs including painting and drywall patching.

• Be Detail-Oriented & Organized - Take care of routine preventative maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. Maintain required documentation such as boiler logs and PM logs. Keep tools, supplies, and work areas clean and organized.

• Be Self-Sufficient & Reliable - Work unsupervised with confidence and responsibility. Prioritize your tasks and manage time effectively. Keep your supervisor informed of any issues that require attention.

• Be a Safety & Security Agent - Handle tools and chemicals safely. Follow all hotel safety procedures and assist with property security when needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours are sometimes required

Other abilities, skills, knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of all legal issues in compliance with OSHA

Duties & Functions:

  • Main duty will be carpet cleaning
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Move furniture, shampoo carpets in both guest rooms and public areas
  • Make basic repairs to air conditioners – change filters, clean coils, replace blower motors, etc
  • Repair/replace tile, grouting, and caulking
  • Repair drapes and rods, replace hooks, cords, and slides
  • Install towel racks, toilet paper holders, shower curtain rods, and door stops
  • Replace light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs
  • Perform basic furniture repairs
  • Hang pictures
  • Make basic wall covering repairs and wall painting
  • Clean pool pump room
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs – change FET washers, stems seats, cartridges, handles, drain fittings, etc.
  • Painting and drywall repair
  • Maintain grounds and light program.
  • Must be able to work and manage the mechanical, guest room, public space and PM programs.
  • Must be able to manage the lights and grounds program.
  • Handle dangerous chemicals safely.
  • Maintain legal documents ex boiler logs PM logs.
  • Work un-supervised.
  • Assist as Property Security as requested.
  • Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention.
  • Other duties as required within hotels rooms from cleaning showers to all carpet cleaning
