Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Surrey, BC

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year

We are seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to support municipal infrastructure and land development projects in Surrey and across the Lower Mainland.

This opportunity suits a P.Eng. who enjoys a mix of technical design, project management and fieldwork, working closely with clients, civil engineers and contractors to deliver practical geotechnical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage geotechnical investigations, including drilling, test pitting, sampling and laboratory testing programs.
  • Interpret subsurface conditions and prepare geotechnical reports and recommendations.
  • Complete analyses and design recommendations for foundations, settlement, slope stability, retaining walls, earthworks and pavement structures.
  • Provide geotechnical input for residential and commercial developments, subdivisions, roads, utilities and other municipal infrastructure.
  • Conduct construction reviews and field inspections to assess compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules and client communications.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, municipal representatives and contractors.
  • Support proposals, fee estimates and the development of client relationships.
  • Mentor junior engineers and field staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Approximately 5–8 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting municipal infrastructure and land development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods, soil mechanics, foundation engineering and earthworks.
  • Familiarity with local ground conditions and applicable BC codes, standards and municipal requirements.
  • Strong technical report writing, communication and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage assignments independently and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Lower Mainland.

Compensation

A base salary of $90,000–$120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
