Benefits:
Looking for an opportunity to put your skills to work, travel, and earn strong compensation during major storm events?
Holland Power Services Inc. (HPS) is one of North America's leading power restoration contractors, providing experienced crews to utilities throughout Canada, the United States and the Caribbean when severe weather impacts the electrical grid.
We are continuously recruiting casual, on-call storm personnel for our Iroquois, Ontario division. Our crews mobilize from Iroquois and may travel throughout Canada and the United States, with opportunities to support restoration efforts in the Caribbean when required.
Storm work isn't a typical Monday-to-Friday job. Callouts can happen with little notice, days can be long, and conditions can be challenging. For the right person, it offers excellent earning potential, travel opportunities, valuable experience, and the chance to work alongside an experienced storm restoration team.
Please note: Applicants must currently reside in Canada or the United States. International recruitment and relocation are not available for these casual, on-call positions.
We are continuously recruiting:
- Certified Journeyperson Powerline Technicians
- Apprentice Powerline Technicians looking to further their careers and gain experience
- Experienced Pole Setters
- Experienced Truck & Transport Mechanics
What we're looking for:
Successful candidates should:
- Hold a valid commercial driver's license, or be able to obtain the required license within six (6) months
- Be able to meet applicable pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Hold a valid passport and be eligible to travel internationally for storm restoration work
- Be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position in demanding weather and field conditions
- Have knowledge of applicable equipment, materials, trade practices, operating standards and safety requirements
- Demonstrate a strong safety record and commitment to safe work practices
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, crew members, customers and industry partners
- Work effectively as part of a crew and follow established procedures and direction
- Be willing and able to respond to unplanned storm events, sometimes with limited notice
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and a commitment to continuous improvement
What storm work looks like:
Storm restoration is unpredictable by nature. When severe weather hits, our crews may be called to mobilize quickly and travel away from home for extended periods. Assignments may involve long shifts, challenging weather and changing conditions as crews work to safely restore power.
HPS crews have supported restoration efforts throughout Canada, the United States and the Caribbean, giving storm personnel the opportunity to work in different regions, alongside different utilities and crews, and gain experience they may not get through regular construction work.
Storm work provides the opportunity to earn strong compensation in concentrated periods of work, travel, gain valuable restoration experience, and make a real difference in communities affected by severe weather.
What HPS provides
HPS offers competitive storm compensation and incentives. Accommodations, meals/per diems and eligible travel expenses are covered during storm callouts.
These are casual, on-call positions. Storm work is weather-dependent, and placement on the HPS storm roster does not guarantee callouts, hours of work, location of assignment or the duration of an assignment.
If you're experienced, safety-focused, work well as part of a crew and are ready to answer the call when severe weather hits, we'd like to hear from you.
