Parts Director – RV Industry

Traveland RV is seeking an experienced Parts Director to provide leadership, direction and strategic oversight for our Parts operations across our Dealership Group. This role works closely and primarily with the Service Director to ensure strong alignment between Parts and Service operations, with a shared focus on improving efficiency, profitability, inventory performance, tech support, and customer service. The preferred home base for this position is Langley BC; however, we will consider strong candidates located in other cities. Regular travel between Traveland RV locations is an important requirement for this role. The ideal candidate will bring signnificant Parts Management experience, strong business and financial acumen, and a proven ability to develop teams and improve Parts department performance. Direct RV experience is preferred, but experienced Parts leaders from automotive, powersports, marine, heavy-duty, agriculture or other dealership environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities - Multi Location Leadership

  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to Parts Managers across all Traveland RV locations
  • Work closely with the Service Director to ensure Parts and Service departments operate efficiently
  • Oversee Parts operations, inventory management and departmental performance
  • Establish consistent Parts department policies, procedures, and processes across all locations
  • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, training and development of Parts Managers
  • Identify staffing, training and development needs and provide coaching and support to department leaders

Parts & Service Collaboration

  • Ensure Parts departments effectively support Service department requirements and tech productivity
  • Monitor parts availability and identify opportunities to reduce service delays caused by parts shortages, backorders or ordering issues
  • Work with Service leadership to improve communication, workflow and processes between both departments
  • Establish consistent processes for managing internal parts orders, special orders and back orders
  • Identify opportunities to improve gross profit and efficiency through stronger Parts and Service coordination
  • Support a consistent customer experience from the initial service visit through parts ordering, repair and completion

Inventory & Purchasing

  • Establish and monitor appropriate inventory levels based on sales history, service requirements, seasonality and local market needs
  • Monitor aging inventory, turnover, obsolescence, stocking practices and overall inventory practices
  • Review and approve inventory adjustments, write-offs and obsolete inventory
  • Assist Parts Managers with yearly inventory counts and ensure effective inventory controls are maintained throughout the year
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufactures, distributors and suppliers
  • Coordinate purchasing opportunities and negotiate pricing, discounts, terms and programs with key vendors
  • Monitor freight, shipping and receiving processes and identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Monitor special orders, backorders and outstanding customer & service parts orders

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Review monthly financial and operational results and work with Parts Managers to address areas of concern and identify areas for improvement
  • Analyze Parts departments performance metrics including sales, pross profit, margins, inventory turns and expenses
  • Compline and analyze management reports and develop action plans based on results
  • Demonstrate a consistent focus on improving Parts sales, Gross Profits, inventory performance and operational efficiency

Customer Experience

  • Review parts departmental layouts, merchandizing and product presentation and recommend improvements to enhance customer experience
  • Coordinate Parts-related promotions, programs and sales initiatives across the dealership group
  • Promote consistent customer service standards throughout all Traveland Parts departments

Leadership & Industry Representation

  • Attend industry trade shows, supplier meetings, and other events as required
  • Stay informed on industry trends, supplier programs, product developments and best practices
  • Provide regular reporting on Parts departmental performance, opportunities and areas on concern to senior leadership

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience leading and developing Parts teams
  • Previous multi-locations, regional or group-level management experience
  • Direct RV Parts experience is preferred
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to understand and act on departmental reporting
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly between Traveland RV dealerships
