Project Cost Accountant

Huntsville, Ontario | $70,000–$85,000 | Permanent, Full-Time

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Project Cost Accountant to join a growing business in Huntsville, with genuine scope for long-term career development.

The position is permanent, with the initial 12–18 months focused on taking over the responsibilities of an existing team member during maternity leave. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible to allow for a thorough handover before they leave in mid-December. Beyond this period, the role will evolve around your strengths and career goals alongside the future needs of the business.

The Role

Track and analyse project costs against budgets and estimates
Investigate cost variances and unusual transactions
Prepare cost-to-complete analysis
Build and maintain cost reports, KPIs and Excel tools
Manage project coding, cost allocations and reconciliations
Work with project and operational teams to understand financial performance
Support broader accounting activities as the role develops

What We're Looking For

Strong accounting fundamentals and job/project costing experience
Advanced Excel skills are essential
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working with ERP/accounting systems
Experience with Acumatica is preferred, but not essential
CPA/CMA qualified or currently working towards your designation
Construction or heavy civil experience is an asset
Proactive, adaptable and comfortable getting into the detail

For candidates currently completing their professional designation, there is a qualified accountant within the business who can support the sign-off of applicable practical experience hours.
