Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious Truck Driver to join our transportation team in Southern Ontario.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, customers, and distribution centres. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial vehicle operations, transportation regulations, cargo securement, and workplace safety standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven history of professional commercial driving, a clean driving record, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles in accordance with company policies and applicable transportation regulations.
- Transport finished goods, raw materials, and other freight between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, customers, and distribution centres.
- Complete assigned pickups and deliveries safely, accurately, and within established timelines.
- Verify shipment quantities, documentation, and delivery requirements.
- Ensure products and freight are properly secured and maintained in saleable condition throughout transportation.
- Conduct and document comprehensive pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, fuel records, delivery documentation, and other required transportation records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, and municipal transportation and safety regulations.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, warehouse personnel, and logistics teams regarding delivery schedules, delays, or operational concerns.
- Load and unload freight as required, while following appropriate safety and handling procedures.
- Monitor cargo and load stability throughout each route.
- Promptly report vehicle defects, accidents, incidents, delays, or regulatory concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and professional condition of the assigned vehicle.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Ontario AZ Licence, Class 1 Licence, or G Licence, as applicable to the position.
- Minimum 3 years of documented commercial driving experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial or delivery driving capacity.
- Proof of commercial driving experience on insurance company letterhead is required.
- Clean and acceptable driving record.
- Valid Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, where applicable.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian transportation legislation, commercial vehicle safety requirements, and applicable operating standards.
- Demonstrated ability to operate commercial vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with dispatch and operations teams.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Ability to provide a current driver's abstract.
- Ability to successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening requirements, including background checks and drug/alcohol testing, where legally permitted.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight routes, based on operational requirements.
Physical & Working Requirements
- Ability to operate a commercial vehicle and remain seated for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently climb, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work effectively in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely perform all required duties while wearing designated PPE.
- Ability to meet the physical demands associated with loading, unloading, securing, and inspecting freight.
