Key Responsibilities

• Agile Leadership: Guide a hybrid cross-functional team combining waterfall and agile methods like Scrum and Extreme Programming to execute online user experiences and content strategies.

• Product Strategy and Backlog: Establish product design criteria, prioritize feature roadmaps, manage the product backlog, and determine ideal release schedules to capture immediate user feedback.

• User-Centered Delivery: Conduct extensive user research, client consultations, interviews, and usability testing to evaluate user pain points, analyze web metrics, and continuous design choices.

• Design Oversight: Author technical and functional specifications, wireframes, page templates, map user journeys, and guide rapid prototyping to map intuitive user flows before active deployment.

• Accessibility and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to web accessibility mandates, explicitly validating digital solutions against WCAG 2.0 and WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA parameters.

• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with solution delivery vendors and corporate stakeholders to mitigate design constraints, address project risks, manage project timelines, and deliver executive slide decks mapping solution design options.

Technical and Experience Requirements

Technical Skills and Design Matrix

• Demonstrated history designing enterprise-level online user experiences and specialized information architectures for complex digital products.

• High proficiency operating standard corporate design and wireframing toolsets including Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Balsamiq, and InVision.

• Deep knowledge of mobile-first layout methodologies, taxonomy classification systems, interaction design theory, and responsive navigational design elements.

• Proven compliance expertise incorporating web usability benchmarks and the Ontario Digital Service Standard into enterprise front-end designs.

People and Leadership Skills

• Strong leadership capacity to mentor delivery squads, build consensus among cross-functional business groups, and negotiate user experience content standards.

• Highly developed facilitation, time management, and presentation skills required to coordinate multi-stakeholder workshops and align client product visions.
