The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization in Paris, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to join their team on a temporary basis, with the potential for the position to become permanent.

This is a hands-on, tactical leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day shipping operation and ensuring inbound and outbound activity runs efficiently. The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly within the operation, coordinating priorities, supporting the shipping team and stepping in to resolve issues as they arise.

This opportunity would be well suited to an experienced shipping or logistics professional who understands the pace and demands of a manufacturing or warehouse environment and is ready to take ownership of the daily shipping function.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day inbound and outbound shipping activities

• Coordinate daily shipping schedules, dispatch priorities and carrier requirements

• Ensure shipments are prepared, documented and dispatched accurately and on schedule

• Coordinate with carriers and transportation providers regarding pickups, deliveries and service issues

• Provide hands-on leadership and direction to employees within the shipping operation

• Monitor workflow and adjust daily priorities based on production and customer requirements

• Coordinate inventory and product locations to support efficient shipping and receiving activity

• Maintain accurate shipping documentation and records

• Work closely with production, warehouse and other internal teams to coordinate material and finished goods movement

• Troubleshoot shipping delays, inventory discrepancies, carrier issues and other operational challenges

• Support accurate transactions and inventory movement within an ERP or similar warehouse/business system

• Help maintain an organized, safe and efficient shipping environment

Qualifications

• 3+ years of shipping, logistics or warehouse experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment

• 1+ year of supervisory, lead hand or team leadership experience preferred

• Strong understanding of Canadian domestic shipping and transportation processes

• Hands-on experience coordinating inbound and outbound freight, carriers and shipping documentation

• Experience working with ERP, warehouse or inventory management systems

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced operation

• Confident problem-solving skills and the ability to address operational issues as they arise

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, carriers, production and other internal departments

• A practical, hands-on leadership style and willingness to work directly within the operation when required
