Position Overview

As Program Supervisor, you are responsible for the overall leadership and daily operation of a licensed childcare centre, ensuring high-quality, inclusive programming that supports children, families, and educators. You will guide a team in delivering play-based, inquiry-driven learning aligned with Ontario's early years frameworks, including How Does Learning Happen? and Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), while ensuring full compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act and all applicable health, safety, and licensing requirements. This role combines pedagogical leadership, team development, and operational oversight. You will create a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous learning, supporting educators to thrive while ensuring children experience a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment.

This position reports to the Manager, Assistant Manager and Coordinator of Group Care Programs, and is based at Children's Village at our brand-new Elizabeth Biggars Early Learning Centre (1149 Gladstone Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K1Y 3H7).

What You'll Do

• Plan, implement, and evaluate inclusive, play-based learning environments that support children's holistic development
• Guide educators in delivering emergent curriculum aligned with How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment and ensure full compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, public health guidelines, licensing regulations, inspections, and all Ministry requirements.
• Supervise, coach, and mentor staff, students, and volunteers while fostering a positive team culture and supporting performance, learning, and career development.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management in partnership with the Program Manager.
• Manage daily operations including staffing schedules, enrolment, and program capacity.
• Build and maintain meaningful relationships with families by serving as a key point of contact, supporting engagement, and connecting them with community resources.
• Represent and promote the centre within the broader community and sector.
• Oversee supervision practices, ratios, and emergency procedures, ensuring accurate, timely completion of all required documentation, reporting, and record-keeping.
• Uphold duty to report obligations and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Monitor budgets, expenses, and petty cash in alignment with approved guidelines.
  

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Be a registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Hold an Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree from a recognized college or university, or equivalent qualifications.

You bring:

• A minimum of 7-10 years' experience in a licensed childcare setting, working with relevant age groups.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in an early learning environment.
• Experience implementing emergent curriculum and Ontario's early years frameworks, including How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT.
• A commitment to confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries.
• The ability to analyze information, problem-solve, and manage multiple priorities.
• The ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  

You demonstrate:

• The ability to plan and manage efficient centre operations aligned with How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT.
• Strong knowledge of CCEYA and ensures ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, including ratios, qualifications, and documentation.
• Effective coaching, performance management, and staff scheduling practices.
• The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families and manage concerns professionally.
  

The selected candidate must hold a valid Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C' certification and a current and satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
