CONCRETE REFLECTIONS INC.
Calgary, AB
Job Details:
What you'll do
Job setup and handoff
- Lead the Sales-to-Operations handoff for every awarded job: review the quote, scope, exclusions, specifications, drawings and contract with the estimator or account manager, and confirm what we sold before anything is scheduled.
- Walk the site before mobilization when needed: slab condition and age, access, power and water, containment, and where we fit in the sequence with other trades.
- Confirm the paperwork is in place before we start: signed subcontract, certificate of insurance, WCB clearance, GC orientation and site-specific safety requirements.
- Set up the job budget by cost code (labour hours, materials, equipment, travel) and check that it matches the price we sold.
Planning crews, materials and equipment
- Build the job plan and schedule: phases, production rates, crew size and days on site. Work with the Project Coordinators and the field schedule to assign crews.
- Plan materials: quantities from the takeoff, lead times, orders, deliveries, staging, product data sheets and submittals.
- Plan equipment: grinders, dust extractors, shot blasters, generators and lifts. Coordinate with the shop and arrange rentals.
- Plan out-of-town work: travel, accommodation, living-out allowance and equipment transport.
- Issue a clear work order to the field: scope, sequence, product system, finish specification and quality targets.
Running the job
- Be the main contact for the GC's project manager and superintendent on your jobs.
- Visit sites regularly to check progress, quality and safety. Hold the work to the specification and the schedule.
- Track production against the plan (hours, square feet, material used) and act early when a job starts to drift.
- Identify, document and price changes with Sales, and get written approval before extra work is done. Update the job budget when a change order is approved.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, mock-ups, inspections and sign-offs.
- Prepare accurate monthly progress billing with Accounting, including holdback tracking and backup.
- Support site safety: hazard assessments, silica exposure control, PPE and incident follow-up.
Close-out
- Run the deficiency walk, complete the list and get sign-off.
- Deliver close-out documents: warranties, maintenance instructions and final quantities. Submit final billing and follow holdback release.
- Review each job: what we sold against what it took. Feed production rates and lessons back to Estimating and Sales.
Working with the team
- Project Coordinators: you set the plan and priorities; they handle day-to-day coordination, schedule updates, field tasks and documentation. You coach them and back them up.
- Sales and Estimating: a clean handoff in, pricing support on change orders, and honest feedback on production rates and quote assumptions.
- Field crews and foremen: clear direction, the right tools and material on site, and a PM who listens to what they see on the slab.
- Accounting: billing, job costs and supplier invoices.
