Role Description:
The Financial Controller is a full-time, hybrid role based in Durham, ON, with some flexibility for work from home. The role involves overseeing the following for company clients from a variety of industries:
Accounting operations, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting;
The monitoring of cash flow, support budgeting and forecasting, and analysis to inform strategic and operational decisions;
Day-to-day responsibilities include managing internal controls, coordinating data entry for A/R, A/P, Payroll, Government Remittances, and Job Costing reporting and administration;
Ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and improving financial processes and systems. The role will also collaborate with other advisors and leadership to provide financial insights for client engagements and internal initiatives
What You Bring:
High energy, positive attitude, and a passion for solving complex challenges that involve people, numbers, and processes.
Completion of post-secondary education Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting is considered an asset. CPA designation not required but considered an asset.
You have a minimum 5 years of high-volume, commercial bookkeeping / accounting experience, including not-for-profit commercial bookkeeping roles.
You reside in Durham Region (Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Clarington, Port Perry, Uxbridge), have a valid Ontario Driver's license, are equipped with a vehicle, and happy to travel to multiple client offices on a weekly basis.
An Understanding of cash flow lending and understanding of enterprise value-based credit structures.
Demonstrated expert knowledge using Microsoft Office Products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Expert knowledge of Quickbooks (QBO) or similar accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, NetSuite) and their modules, both Desktop and/or Cloud-based.
Broad comprehension of business concepts and ability to translate knowledge to organizational objectives.
Previous experience with, and accountability for, the performance of businesses, their accounting needs, financial budgets and operational KPIs.
Demonstrated ability to use Enterprise Management Software (e.g. Knowify, Procore, Microsoft Dynamics, and/or CRM systems) to leverage their reporting, analytics, and data to deliver and lead insights and action tied to strategic objectives.
Strong collaboration skills, customer service skills, an ability to communicate effectively, and strong conflict management skills.
