ECEA / Afterschool Tutor

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Safely picking up children from designated elementary schools and escorting them to the after-school centre.
• Supervising children between the ages of 5 and 12 and ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Assisting students with homework, reading, and school assignments.
• Providing educational support in English, Math, Chinese, Kumon-style worksheets, and other age-appropriate subjects.
• Planning and leading educational activities, games, arts and crafts.
• Engaging and playing with children in a positive and age-appropriate manner.
• Maintaining a safe, respectful, positive, and organized learning environment.
• Encouraging appropriate behaviour and helping children follow classroom rules and routines.
• Communicating professionally with parents, children, and other staff members.
• Reporting any significant incidents, injuries, behavioural concerns, or other issues to the manager promptly.
• Preparing and serving snacks when required and ensuring appropriate hygiene routines are followed.
• Organizing classroom materials and assisting with daily classroom cleaning and maintenance.
• Following all Centre policies, safety procedures, emergency procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
• Performing other reasonable duties related to the operation of the after-school program as assigned by the Manager.
