Colt Automation is a leader in the Coil Processing industry. In its 50 years of operation, the company has achieved significant growth. We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. You will bring your great work ethic and positive attitude.
This position requires the ability to provide electrical manufacturing of panels for projects and assist in the development and implementation of electrical manufacturing policies and procedures.

Salary: $28-$32 per hour based on experience
Location: Mississauga, ON

The Position:
Key Responsibilities:
- Laying out panel back plates
- Drilling and cutting holes for electrical devices
- Mounting and wiring of electrical devices
- Reading schematics, blueprints, and drawings, and taking or reading measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Precisely wiring control panels and connecting various components like buttons, foot switches, motors, encoders, etc.
- Testing and inspecting components to ensure full functionality
- Troubleshooting breakdowns (aptitude for problem-solving)
Experience:
- Proven experience within the electrical field is an asset
- Experience using a variety of electrical equipment (e.g., voltmeters) as well as electrical tools (e.g., wire cutters, strippers, soldering irons, crimpers)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective devices
- Quality workmanship, efficiency, and ability to work independently
- Professional certification and/or knowledge of the Ontario electrical code and standards is an asset
- Previous exposure to PLCs, HMIs, VFDs would be an asset
- Occasional travel may be required; must possess a valid driver’s license
What We're Looking For:
- Education would be an asset
- Computer skills needed in MS Office, E-Plan, SolidWorks
- An understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls and integration of equipment would be an asset
- 5+ years' experience in the custom automation industry would be an asset
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
