The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for managing the housekeeping functions at the property and ensuring all rooms and public areas meet the highest quality standards.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full management and strategic direction of the housekeeping, houseperson and laundry staff, ensuring operational efficiency, service consistency, and alignment with hotel standards.
- Develop departmental goals, operating procedures, and long‑term plans to support overall hotel performance.
- Lead daily briefings, stand‑up meetings, and departmental meetings, setting expectations and communicating priorities to Supervisors and Associates.
- Plan and manage daily staffing levels, schedules, and labor budgets to meet business demands while controlling costs.
- Maintain and enforce hotel cleanliness standards across guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back‑of‑house areas.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of rooms, public areas, and Supervisor checklists to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with brand standards.
- Oversee room readiness, service recovery processes, and guest-impact issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Design, implement, and evaluate training programs for Supervisors and Associates, ensuring consistent onboarding, skills development, and brand compliance.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of room status and operational updates between Housekeeping, Front Desk, Engineering, and other departments.
- Serve as the primary liaison with front office, engineering, security, and other hotel teams to support smooth cross‑departmental operations.
- Manage departmental inventory, purchasing, and cost controls for linens, supplies, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring budget adherence.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, linen quality, and vendor relationships to support operational needs.
- Review and maintain departmental records, including inspections, productivity reports, payroll, scheduling, inventory logs, and guest feedback trends.
- Drive guest satisfaction by ensuring prompt responses to guest needs, maintaining service quality, and addressing recurring issues through process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and proper labeling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and succession planning to support a high‑performing team culture.
- Support a multi‑functional work environment and provide leadership presence during peak periods, special events, or staffing shortages.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hotel housekeeping experience, with 1+ year in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping standards, room inspections, and daily operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with inventory, purchasing, and departmental cost control.
- Knowledge of WHMIS, workplace safety, and proper chemical handling.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and hotel systems.
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
