About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Product Development and NPI Lead to take our AI-enabled electronic and electromechanical products from working prototypes into reliable, cost-effective production. If you've led New Product Introduction (NPI) for hardware, from EVT and DVT through PVT and production release, this role is built for you.

You've personally taken physical products from the bench into production runs of hundreds or thousands of units, and you know what breaks along the way. Here, you'll own that path without needing step-by-step direction.

You'll work with cameras, sensors, radar, and embedded systems that use computer vision and AI to make roads safer, partnering with Operations, suppliers, contract manufacturers, and our AI specialists.

What You'll Do

• Lead NPI: Take products from prototype through EVT, DVT, and PVT builds to production release.
• Design for Manufacturing: Apply DFM/DFA from the outset, including component selection, tolerances, assembly methods, and testing.
• Solve Scale-Up Problems: Find and fix assembly inconsistencies, supplier quality issues, component shortages, and production bottlenecks.
• Drive Down Cost: Reduce unit cost, assembly time, rework, and scrap without compromising performance or field reliability.
• Manage Suppliers: Select and manage suppliers and contract manufacturers for cost, quality, and lead time.
• Build with Vision and AI: Integrate cameras, sensors, radar, and embedded hardware with computer vision and AI for traffic safety products.
• Test and Deploy: Lead prototyping, validation, field testing, and deployment of traffic and vision-based systems.
• Lead Technically: Manage engineering projects end to end and guide engineers, technicians, vendors, and manufacturers.

What You Bring

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years developing physical products, including senior technical or project leadership
• Proven personal contribution to taking at least one electronic or electromechanical product from prototype into volume production
• Strong experience with AI, machine learning, or computer vision in physical products
• Hands-on experience with cameras, sensors, embedded systems, programming (Python, C/C++, MATLAB), and CAD (SolidWorks or CATIA)
• Practical knowledge of DFM/DFA, supplier quality, and quality systems
• Experience scaling multiple products is preferred
• P.Eng. or eligibility for registration with APEGA is preferred
• Experience in traffic systems, intelligent transportation, or vehicle detection is desirable
• People management, Lean, Six Sigma, or ISO experience is an asset

Work Conditions:

• This position is a full-time, 40hr/week requirement
• On-site requirement
• Travel as required for testing, deployment, and supplier visits
• Salary range: [$ minimum] to [$ maximum] per year
