Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician

TheRentalGuys.ca is looking for an experienced heavy-duty equipment technician to maintain and repair our company-owned rental fleet. This is primarily an in-shop position with the opportunity to mentor a young apprentice.

Our Calgary team has been operating for 13 years. We work from a 40,000-square-foot facility in Foothills Industrial Park, equipped with overhead cranes that make servicing large equipment safer and easier. We have a strong team, convenient on-site parking, and owners who are involved in day-to-day operations and available to talk.

What you'll work on

Our fleet includes skid steers, compact excavators, rough-terrain boom lifts, rough-terrain scissor lifts, indoor electric scissor lifts, and medium-duty trucks. You'll encounter Kubota, Cummins, Yanmar, and some Deutz engines.

You'll diagnose problems, perform maintenance and repairs, help keep equipment ready for rental, and share your knowledge with an apprentice. Occasional service calls are required, but they are generally indoors. Very little outdoor work is involved.

What makes this role different

We service our own equipment only—we do not take in customer repairs. The pace is steadier than a dealership shop, without customer repair orders driving every minute of the day. We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing the work properly and enjoys helping a newer technician develop.

This role could suit a recently certified technician ready to mentor, or a technician with many years of experience who wants to pass that knowledge along.

What we're looking for

• Red Seal certification as a heavy-duty equipment technician, or a recognized provincial equivalent
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment
• A willingness to guide and work alongside an apprentice
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach to safe, dependable repairs

Schedule: Full-time, five days a week, with 40 hours available. Overtime is available if you want it, but it is not mandatory.
