Position Overview

The Senior Business Analyst provides comprehensive Information and Information Technology (I&IT) business analysis services to clients with diverse business and technology needs. The role works closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, technical teams, and project leadership to elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage business requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

The Senior Business Analyst applies industry-standard business analysis practices, process improvement techniques, Agile methodologies, and enterprise architecture principles to identify business problems and opportunities and translate them into effective, sustainable, and cost-effective technology solutions.

The role also contributes to the development and continuous improvement of business analysis policies, processes, standards, methodologies, and best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct business analysis to assess client business problems, opportunities, and requirements and translate them into clear, actionable business and technical requirements.
  • Engage business stakeholders and subject matter experts to elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage requirements.
  • Lead workshops, interviews, Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, walkthroughs, and other requirements-gathering activities.
  • Apply business process reengineering and continuous improvement concepts to identify alternative and cost-effective approaches to service delivery.
  • Conduct business analysis at varying levels of detail throughout project phases, in alignment with applicable project management, enterprise architecture, and systems development methodologies.
  • Develop business cases, strategies, options analyses, cost-benefit analyses, feasibility studies, and recommendations for business and I&IT initiatives.
  • Develop business models, use cases, process models, data-flow models, context diagrams, stakeholder maps, systems diagrams, business rules, and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, requirements documentation, traceability matrices, and related deliverables.
  • Support UX, functional, and technical design activities by translating business and user requirements into solution specifications.
  • Ensure requirements remain aligned with approved business objectives, enterprise architecture, I&IT strategies, policies, standards, and priorities.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, as appropriate.
  • Support quality assurance activities and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate that delivered solutions meet documented business requirements.
  • Lead change management activities, including change impact assessments, change scope definition, stakeholder communications, training strategies, and end-user adoption activities.
  • Monitor project and business analysis progress, identify and resolve issues, and provide regular status updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Develop performance measures for business analysis activities and conduct follow-up assessments to evaluate outcomes and compliance.
  • Support production issues, problem identification, resolution, and configuration management activities.
  • Participate in Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including requirements development and evaluation of vendor responses for I&IT business and infrastructure solutions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project and business risks and communicate risk information effectively to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of business analysis policies, processes, standards, methodologies, and best practices.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Business Analysis and Technical Skills – 25%

  • Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating workshops to elicit, review, document, validate, and confirm business requirements, business process reengineering opportunities, business models, business rules, and user interface requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and demonstrated ability to break down complex business requirements into manageable deliverables for development teams.
  • Experience developing user stories and acceptance criteria and supporting UX, functional, and technical design activities within iterative development environments.
  • Experience ensuring business analysis activities align with Agile delivery cycles and established project methodologies.
  • Experience developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation and conducting follow-up assessments to ensure alignment with organizational I&IT strategies, policies, priorities, and standards.
  • Proficiency with business analysis and project management tools, including DevOps, Microsoft Visio, Figma, and other modeling and documentation tools.
  • Experience with quality assurance methodologies and testing processes, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Experience managing business and technology changes, including change scope definition, impact analysis, stakeholder engagement, training, and communications.
  • Experience leading and conducting business analysis for business and technology initiatives to assess problems and opportunities and define requirements for effective technology solutions.
