Storyboard Artist - Expression of Interest

Production Responsibilities:

• Producing a fully realized storyboard, including action descriptions, dialogue, camera moves, cuts, hook-ups, etc.
• Collaborating with the Director on the style and tone of the series
• May be required to join weekly creative calls
• Generating and communicating ideas to visually interpret the script and effectively producing solutions to overcome technical limitations
• Consulting with the Director as to the feasibility of comedic or dramatic moments in the scripts and suggesting creative solutions that will maintain the vision of the series
• Pitching thumbnails / rough storyboards to Director
• Anticipating, communicating, and troubleshooting any creative or technical issues
• Using existing templates and following established formatting guidelines and naming conventions
• Addressing any and all revisions from Director as necessary

• Ensure all deadlines are met and communicate any foreseeable issues
• Ensure all artwork is properly backed up, saved appropriately and materials are prepared and ready on time
• And such other duties that Kickstart may assign from time to time.

• Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, other staff members, partners, and clients.
• Work collaboratively across multiple productions and departments as required.
• Aiding in development or other design-related studio needs from time to time when time allows within normal working hours and when there are slow periods in the main assigned project.
• Provide mentorship support to Junior artists on day-to-day tasks.
• Join in on studio discussions on workflows and processes in developing new styles and techniques.
• Contribute to a positive team environment aligned with Kickstart's Core Values.

Requirements

• 3+ years experience storyboarding for 3D animation
• Outstanding drawing skills and sense of appeal, design, character and composition
• Strong understanding of storytelling principles and techniques
• Strong visual storytelling, staging, and composition skills
• Strong posing, acting, and dramatic and comedic timing skills
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Storyboard Pro
• Able to clearly pitch ideas and interpret scripts visually
• Collaborative and communicative; comfortable receiving and applying feedback
• Knowledge of CG animation workflows and production constraints
• Attention to detail and adherence to formatting/naming conventions
• Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
• Experience in comedy or action-driven content is an asset

Salary Range: $1700-1900 per week / Equivalent Annual Salary: $88,400 - $98,800 annual

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (combination of in-studio and remote work)
