Our client is a manufacturer of dock equipment, door seals, impact doors, and loading dock systems, serving industrial and commercial customers across Canada and the USA. They continue to grow, and are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help lead their production floor and keep their supply chain running smoothly.

About the Role

The Operations Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations, lead a diverse team of production employees, and manage the flow of materials and finished goods in and out of the facility. This role requires someone who can move comfortably between the shop floor and the boardroom — coaching long-tenured employees on the line one moment, and reporting production and inventory metrics to senior leadership the next.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, schedule, and motivate a team of production and warehouse employees, fostering a safe, productive, and respectful work environment
• Oversee purchasing cycles for raw materials and components, balancing supply and demand to avoid shortages or overstock
• Coordinate incoming shipments (raw materials, hardware, components) and outgoing shipments (finished goods) to keep production on schedule
• Monitor inventory levels and work with suppliers to manage lead times, pricing, and delivery schedules
• Track production output, efficiency, and quality, identifying and resolving bottlenecks • Communicate regularly with upper management on production status, staffing needs, and supply chain issues
• Bridge communication between management and floor staff, including team members with limited English proficiency who bring years of hands-on product knowledge and experience
• Enforce health and safety standards and ensure compliance with relevant workplace regulations
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing and leading groups of employees in either a large store, warehouse, manufacturing or production environment
• Strong understanding of purchasing cycles, supply and demand principles, and inventory/shipment coordination (any industry background considered)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with upper management as well as with employees who have limited English abilities
• Patience and cultural sensitivity when working with long-tenured staff who may communicate primarily in a language other than English
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in dock equipment, doors, seals, or related industrial manufacturing is an asset but not required
• Proficiency with basic office/inventory software (e.g., Excel, ERP or inventory management systems) is an asset
