Community Phlebotomist

As a Community Phlebotomist you will bring skilled, compassionate blood collection directly to patients in homes and facilities, turning every visit into a moment of trust that supports timely diagnoses and better outcomes for the people we serve.

• Complete 15–20 accurate venipunctures or capillary collections daily in community and long-term care settings while maintaining a first-stick success rate above 95%.
• Document and label 100% of specimens correctly, ensuring chain-of-custody integrity and same-day delivery to partner labs with zero preventable rejections.
• Reduce patient anxiety through clear communication and gentle technique, achieving consistently positive feedback from residents, families and care teams.
• Identify and report specimen-quality or patient-safety issues within one hour so clinical partners can act immediately.
• Maintain full compliance with PHSA, WorkSafeBC and infection-control protocols on every visit, contributing to zero preventable incidents.
• Support surge coverage by accepting flexible community assignments that keep essential testing on schedule.

You will work independently in the community while reporting to a seasoned Registered Nurse Placement Manager. You receive a fully stocked mobile phlebotomy kit, company vehicle or mileage reimbursement, PPE, and access to our 24/7 clinical support line. Assignments span Kelowna and the Central Okanagan with opportunities across our Canadian network.

• Current phlebotomy certification plus demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collection and pediatric/geriatric techniques.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in home and facility settings with excellent time management and navigation skills.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence, reliable vehicle and clean driving record.
• Current CPR/First Aid and immunization records meeting British Columbia health-authority standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills that put anxious or frail patients at ease.
