THE OPPORTUNITY

A well-established and respected architecture, design, and planning practice is expanding its project leadership team and is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex public, institutional, and large-scale architectural projects.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an architect or architectural professional who is confident managing projects from early design through construction, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and acting as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to lead projects independently while working closely with principals and senior leadership.

THE POSITION

As a Senior Architectural Project Manager, you will have primary responsibility for the successful execution of assigned projects, providing leadership across design, documentation, procurement, and construction phases.

You will oversee project teams and consultant groups, establish project priorities, monitor budgets and schedules, and ensure that deliverables meet both client expectations and professional standards.

The role will involve regular collaboration with clients, municipal authorities, consultants, contractors, and internal design teams. You will be expected to identify potential issues early, drive decisions, and provide practical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a remote-first position based in Toronto, with occasional travel approximately every two weeks for project meetings, site reviews, client meetings, and other project requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the delivery of complex architectural projects through design, documentation, tender, and construction administration
• Establish project objectives, deliverables, schedules, milestones, and resource requirements
• Manage project budgets, fees, scope, staffing, and consultant coordination
• Direct and mentor intermediate and junior architectural staff and project team members
• Coordinate multidisciplinary consultants and ensure timely integration of their work
• Review architectural documentation for technical accuracy, completeness, and consistency
• Act as a senior point of contact for clients and external project stakeholders
• Participate in design development while maintaining project scope, budget, and schedule requirements
• Coordinate with contractors during construction and assist with resolving technical and contractual issues
• Conduct and coordinate site reviews, field investigations, and construction meetings as required
• Liaise with municipalities, authorities having jurisdiction, and other regulatory bodies
• Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, changes, and potential delays
• Support project reporting, fee management, invoicing, and financial forecasting
• Maintain clear project records and ensure effective communication across all project participants
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes and internal standards

WHAT YOU BRING

• 10+ years of professional architectural experience, with significant experience leading projects in a project management capacity
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale or technically complex architectural projects from inception through construction
• Background in public-sector, institutional, government, civic, healthcare, education, infrastructure, or similarly complex projects is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of Canadian building codes, standards, regulations, and municipal approval processes
• Minimum 5 years of experience working within the Canadian architectural and construction environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of building systems and construction methods, including wood, steel, concrete, and hybrid construction
• Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, consultant teams, staffing, and deliverables
• Strong contract administration and construction-phase experience
• Ability to independently identify project risks and develop effective solutions
• Strong leadership and team-management capabilities
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
• Professional architectural registration in Canada is an asset (OAA, PMP, etc).
• Ability to obtain and maintain applicable reliability or security clearance where required
• Willingness to travel periodically for site visits and project meetings
