IRATA 3 Pipefitter - Immediate

Location: Edmonton Area, Alberta
Certifications Required: IRATA Level 3 and Pipefitter Certification

MSCP Heat Management Solutions is seeking an experienced IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Pipefitter for a long-term, local position supporting ongoing work at an Edmonton-area refinery.

This position combines hands-on industrial pipefitting with IRATA Level 3 rope access leadership. The successful candidate will perform pipefitting work in difficult-to-access areas while providing leadership and oversight of rope access activities, ensuring work is properly planned, rigged, supervised, and executed safely and efficiently.

As an IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Pipefitter, you will:

• Perform industrial pipefitting activities while utilizing rope access techniques where required.

• Install, assemble, maintain, repair, and modify piping systems and associated components.

• Read and interpret drawings, piping specifications, isometrics, P&IDs, and other technical documentation.

• Measure, cut, fit, align, and prepare piping and components for installation or repair.

• Support the installation and removal of valves, flanges, fittings, supports, and related piping components.

• Identify piping deficiencies and assist with troubleshooting and maintenance activities.

• Coordinate pipefitting activities with other trades, Operations, Maintenance, and project personnel.

• Ensure completed work meets applicable drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and client standards.

• Complete required work packages, inspections, field documentation, and supporting records.

• Hold and maintain a current IRATA Level 3 certification.

• Lead and supervise daily rope access activities at the refinery.

• Mentor and provide field leadership to IRATA Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.

• Design, establish, inspect, and supervise rope access and rigging systems.

• Select access and rigging systems that support efficient execution while prioritizing safe access, egress, and rescue.

• Maintain a high level of awareness regarding worker safety, changing site conditions, and hazards associated with both rope access and trade activities.

• Maintain knowledge of current IRATA requirements, guidelines, and safety bulletins, along with applicable MSCP and client procedures.

• Lead rope access components of daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, equipment inspections, and buddy checks.

• Review and sign applicable FLHAs, hazard assessments, rope access documentation, and execution plans.

• Assign team members to work parties and supervise rigging and safe rope access practices.

• Develop and maintain appropriate rescue plans and be prepared to lead rescue activities when required.

• Support the orientation, mentorship, and ongoing assessment of rope access team members.

• Verify rope access logbooks where permitted and support accurate tracking of rope hours.

• Determine equipment, rigging, manpower, and logistical requirements for upcoming rope access work.

• Ensure rope access equipment is appropriately inspected, maintained, documented, and used only by properly trained personnel.

• Ensure required execution plans, checklists, inspections, and supporting documentation are completed.

• Promote consistent adherence to IRATA, client, and MSCP safety requirements.

• Current IRATA Level 3 certification – required.

• Journeyperson Pipefitter certification or recognized equivalent – strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated industrial pipefitting experience.

• Demonstrated experience leading and supervising rope access teams.

• Refinery, oil and gas, petrochemical, or industrial maintenance experience strongly preferred.

• Strong knowledge of industrial piping systems, fittings, valves, flanges, supports, and associated components.

• Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, specifications, and technical documentation.

• Strong knowledge of rope access systems, rigging, rescue planning, and equipment inspection.

• Strong understanding of hazard identification, FLHAs, and field-level risk management.

• Ability to effectively mentor and supervise Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.

• Strong communication, coordination, and field leadership skills.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
