ABOUT STRIVE

STRIVE Recruitment is a leading Canadian recruitment firm specialising in Accounting & Finance, Corporate Administration, Operations and Technology. We connect talented professionals with exciting career opportunities across Canada.

THE OPPORTUNITY

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with a growing, Vancouver-based real estate developer seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team.

With an established portfolio of commercial properties and an exciting pipeline of residential and mixed-use developments, the business is entering a significant period of growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA-designated accountant or someone nearing completion of their CPA, particularly those currently working in public practice who are looking to transition into industry.

You'll work directly with senior finance leadership, gaining exposure to real estate development, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management and the wider operations of the business.

You don't need to have worked directly for a real estate developer to be considered. Candidates with a strong public practice foundation and exposure to real estate, construction or privately held businesses are encouraged to apply.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you'll play an important role in supporting the accounting and financial operations of a growing real estate business.

Unlike more narrowly focused accounting positions, this role offers exposure across both development projects and income-producing properties, with opportunities to contribute to financial reporting, analysis, budgeting and process improvements.

The position is hands-on, combining technical accounting and financial analysis with day-to-day accounting responsibilities. It's particularly well suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work and wants to build a long-term career within real estate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and variance analysis across development projects and commercial properties.
  • Assist with development accounting, including construction draws, project costs and lender reporting.
  • Prepare financial and management reports to support business decisions.
  • Support full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and tax filings.
  • Assist with year-end financial reporting, audits and tax requirements.
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance, development team and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting and internal controls.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally gained within a Canadian public accounting firm, real estate, construction or a related industry.
  • CPA designation or active progression towards completion, strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including financial statements, reconciliations, accruals and financial reporting.
  • Public practice candidates with experience serving real estate, construction, property management or privately held business clients are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis or financial statement preparation.
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to work confidently with accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach and willingness to take ownership of both analytical and transactional accounting responsibilities.
  • Genuine interest in real estate development and building a long-term career within a growing organization.

Experience with development accounting, construction draws, Yardi or commercial property accounting would be an asset, but is not essential.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $80,000–$100,000 base salary, depending on experience.
  • 10–15% discretionary annual bonus.
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits.
  • Three weeks' vacation.
  • Vancouver-based office environment with occasional flexibility.
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and active real estate development projects.
  • Opportunity to broaden your accounting experience and take on additional responsibilities as the business grows.

APPLY NOW

If you're a public practice accountant considering your next move into industry, or an accounting professional looking to broaden your experience within real estate development, we'd love to hear from you.
