Position Summary

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Commercial & Industrial Properties, the Commercial Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting Amacon's commercial and industrial real estate portfolio. This role is designed for a 3rd or 4th year university student seeking a 4-month practical co-op or internship placement in property management, commercial real estate, business administration, or a related field.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative support for the Commercial Property Management team.
  • Complete general office duties, including filing, scanning, correspondence, mail, and document organization.
  • Support the organization and maintenance of tenant files, lease records, service contracts, insurance certificates, FOB records, and other property information.
  • Assist with entering and updating information in Yardi and other internal systems.
  • Help monitor accounts receivable reports and prepare follow-up information for manager review.
  • Assist with purchase orders, invoice processing, and related documentation.
  • Respond to tenant and vendor inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a university degree program, preferably in business, commerce, real estate, urban land economics, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Previous office, administrative, customer service, accounting, or volunteer experience is considered an asset, but not required.
  • Interest in commercial real estate, property management, development, accounting, or business operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
  • Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal teams, tenants, vendors, contractors, and other external contacts.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a changing environment.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to confidentiality, accuracy, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical, with a focus on producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Yardi or other property management/accounting software is an asset but not required.

Additional Information

This full-time hourly position works 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday onsite in our downtown Vancouver location.
