Journeyperson Plumber/Gasfitter – Service & Heating Overview 5th Element Plumbing & Heating Inc. is a growing Calgary-area plumbing and heating company seeking an experienced Journeyperson Plumber/Gasfitter who can independently complete residential and light-commercial service work. This is not a position where you will spend every day doing repetitive new-construction rough-ins. Our work includes service calls, troubleshooting, plumbing repairs, hot-water tanks, tankless systems, furnaces, boilers, hydronic heating, gas lines, Poly-B repipes and larger mechanical projects. We need someone dependable, professional and technically capable who takes pride in solving problems properly and treating customers' homes with respect. There is strong potential to grow into a lead field position as the company expands. Responsibilities - Independently diagnose and repair residential and light-commercial plumbing and heating systems - Install and service hot-water tanks, tankless water heaters, furnaces, boilers and hydronic heating equipment - Complete plumbing repairs, fixture replacements, gas lines, repipes and renovation work - Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manufacturer instructions and applicable codes - Prepare accurate material lists and communicate additional work before proceeding - Complete job notes, photographs, equipment information and required documentation - Explain findings and repair options clearly and professionally to customers - Coordinate with apprentices, technicians and office staff - Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools and jobsite - Follow Alberta plumbing, gas and safety requirements - Participate in a rotating on-call schedule - Represent 5th Element professionally at every job Required Qualifications - Alberta Journeyperson Plumber certification - Valid Alberta Gasfitter certification - Residential service and troubleshooting experience - Valid driver's licence with an acceptable driver's abstract - Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions - Strong understanding of plumbing, gas and hydronic heating systems - Professional communication and customer-service skills - Reliable attendance and punctuality - Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of plumbing and heating work - Willingness to complete a criminal record check Preferred Experience - Boiler and hydronic heating diagnostics - Furnace and HVAC service - Tankless water-heater installation and service - Residential service sales and presenting repair options - Leading apprentices or small installation crews - Backflow testing certification - Red Seal certification What We Offer - $42–$50 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability - Consistent residential and light-commercial work - Company vehicle and company tools for assigned work - Paid lunch - Support from an established office and field team - Opportunity to advance into a lead journeyperson or field-leadership role - A growing company where strong performance and initiative are recognized Schedule Full-time position with some participation in an on-call rotation.
