The Mechanical Senior Project Manager role includes:
  • Managing and performing project investigation, reporting, specification and drawing preparation, tendering, project management, quality observation and liaison with clients, contractors and manufacturers, as needed, with minimal supervision;
  • Leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems for municipal, commercial, residential, and industrial buildings;
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the provincial building code, ASHRAE, CSA and NFPA standards;
  • Reviewing deliverables for the project including reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications. Reviewing for completeness and accuracy at various stages of projects from design to completion ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements;
  • Supporting implementation of sustainable design strategies and emerging technologies in mechanical systems;
  • Coordinating mechanical scope with electrical, structural, and building envelope disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery;
  • Planning and supervision of projects from proposal through to completion;
  • Performing field review/testing and data collection and preparation of technical/building audits, feasibility studies or other investigative reports complete with observations, conclusions, recommendations and repair budgets;
  • Providing construction administration services for designated projects and ensuring timely completion of all contract administration activities for projects which may include conducting onsite quality control reviewing adherence to prepared specifications;
  • Reviewing/overseeing work completed by others and mentoring staff that may be assigned to your projects;
  • Setting project budgets and monitoring project costs to ensure majority of projects managed are profitable;
  • Keeping all project data up to date in Ajera which includes monitoring project WIP & AR and completing monthly invoicing;
  • Preparing reports, specifications, drawings as required for project delivery;
  • Maintaining a high level of product quality; technically, grammatically and as per company master report formats;
  • Coordinating with the Service Area Leader to ensure project staffing needs are met;
  • Maintaining the assigned billable ratio for your time and accurately record working time using the company timesheet system – all timecards and expenses to be submitted in a timely manner;
  • Assisting with development/improvement to company service delivery processes i.e. standard reports, specifications, drawings, details, etc.;
  • Acting as a technical resource and mentor for engineering best practices within the team;
  • Participating in the knowledge sharing culture through meetings and other training opportunities.
Business Development responsibilities Include:
  • Maintaining/Developing existing client relationships;
  • Defining future needs that existing clients have for both Mechanical as well as other Pretium services;
  • Driving new business development relating to new clients;
  • Providing assistance with and/or coordinating proposals for the mechanical team;
  • Assisting with development of new/specialized services to better serve our existing and target clients;
  • Representing the mechanical team in client presentations, industry events, and proposal pursuits to position Pretium as a trusted advisor.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Excellent technical writing skills. Reporting is to be concise, follow company report formats and be based on project specific evidence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Effective, responsive communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and other design related software is considered an asset.
  • Ability to recognize and understand client needs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) with the Project Team and the client. Co-sign project documents.
  • Ability to demonstrate the importance of budget and schedule control, technical competence, documentation quality and physical appearance of construction work to the Client and Project Team; ensuring the client believes the fee being charged is fair and a good investment.
  • A valid driver's license and insured vehicle to travel to the office and project sites within Ontario. Work related mileage is reimbursed.
