SSRG is looking for an experienced Security Alarm Technician with strong hands-on experience in commercial intrusion alarm systems, ULC installations, inspections, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

This position will primarily focus on intrusion and monitored alarm systems, including installation, programming, commissioning, service, preventative maintenance, and ULC-related work. Experience with access control, CCTV and other integrated security systems is an asset, but we are specifically looking for someone with a strong alarm and intrusion background.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, commission, and service commercial intrusion alarm systems.
  • Troubleshoot alarm panels, field devices, communication paths, power supplies and associated wiring.
  • Perform ULC inspections, testing and documentation for monitored intrusion and fire monitoring systems.
  • Complete system takeovers, upgrades and panel replacements.
  • Program alarm zones, partitions, users, schedules and monitoring communications.
  • Test alarm signals and coordinate with monitoring stations during commissioning, service and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot IP, cellular and other alarm communication issues.
  • Install and service motion detectors, door contacts, glass-break detectors, panic/duress devices and other intrusion devices.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and identify system deficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate ULC inspection records, service reports and system documentation.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding system issues, repairs and recommendations.
  • Support access control, CCTV and other integrated security systems when required.
  • Participate in after-hours/on-call service where required.

Preferred Experience

Experience with commercial alarm platforms such as DSC, Bosch, Ademco, Honeywell, DMP or similar systems is considered a strong asset.

Experience with ULC monitoring requirements, commercial fire monitoring, cellular/IP communicators and monitoring-station coordination is highly desirable.


Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience servicing and installing commercial security alarm systems.
  • Strong knowledge of intrusion alarm systems and alarm monitoring.
  • Experience performing ULC inspections and working with ULC-listed monitored systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience programming commercial alarm panels.
  • Understanding of low-voltage wiring, relays, power supplies and supervised circuits.
  • Basic IP networking knowledge.
  • Valid BC Security Worker Licence and/or applicable Security Alarm Installer qualification.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Working Conditions

  • Requires lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing, and working at heights
  • Work may be indoors or outdoors, including construction environments
  • May involve confined spaces and moderate noise levels
  • This role may require occasional travel
