THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnering with an established and growing multi-site healthcare and seniors living organization, who is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Vancouver-based finance team.

Reporting to the Controllers, the Senior Accountant will take ownership of the accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of operating sites. This is a broad accounting role encompassing month-end reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, tax and statutory reporting, audit support, and oversight of transactional accounting activities.

The successful candidate will be a strong hands-on accountant who is comfortable managing multiple entities and priorities while partnering with both finance and operational stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned operating sites in accordance with ASPE
  • Prepare quarterly statutory and regulatory reporting
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned sites
  • Support and liaise with external auditors throughout the year-end audit process
  • Prepare GST filings as required
  • Prepare and assist with corporate and partnership tax returns
  • Perform operational and financial analysis, including actual vs. budget results, KPI monitoring, and debt covenant reporting
  • Oversee AR, AP, and banking activities carried out by accounting clerks and site administrators
  • Partner with operational teams and site-level stakeholders to address accounting and reporting matters
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting
  • Support ad hoc accounting projects and other finance initiatives as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • CPA designation preferred, ideally with experience gained in public practice working with privately owned businesses, or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with Canadian corporate tax
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple entities, priorities, and deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Self-starter who can work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative finance team
  • Process improvement mindset with the ability to identify more efficient ways of working
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience within healthcare, seniors living, property management, or real estate is considered an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or a comparable ERP system is considered an asset
