The Shipping Coordinator will play a central role in coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, working closely with carriers, internal operations teams, and customers to keep transportation activities running efficiently. This position combines hands-on logistics coordination with the administrative accuracy required to manage schedules, documentation, inventory movement, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The Role:

  • Manage shipping appointments, carrier schedules, dispatch requirements, and internal operational priorities.
  • Coordinate with carriers and internal teams to support on-time pickups, deliveries, and efficient movement of materials.
  • Monitor shipments in progress and proactively respond to delays, schedule changes, or transportation issues.
  • Receive and prioritize routine and urgent dispatch requests.
  • Communicate shipping instructions, requirements, and changes to drivers, warehouse teams, and operations personnel.
  • Prepare, review, and process shipping documentation, ensuring records are complete and accurate.
  • Maintain organized electronic shipping records, dispatch logs, and documentation for traceability.
  • Coordinate with inventory and operations teams to track materials, storage locations, and special orders.
  • Support inventory verification and cycle-count activities as required.
  • Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Sales, Inventory, Finance, and Operations to coordinate product arrivals and outgoing shipments.
  • Liaise with carriers to resolve service, scheduling, or documentation discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve shipping, dispatch, and administrative processes.
  • Ensure shipping activities and documentation meet internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in logistics coordination, shipping administration, dispatch, transportation, or a similar role.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or industrial environment is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating truck, rail, or intermodal transportation is an asset.
  • Strong logistics scheduling and carrier coordination skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when preparing documentation and maintaining records.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities.
  • Confident communicator who can work effectively with carriers, drivers, customers, warehouse teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business applications.
  • Experience using ERP, transportation management, inventory, or document management systems.
  • Strong computer literacy with the ability to work across multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust quickly when schedules or priorities change.
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is an asset.
  • Transportation, logistics, or dispatch-related coursework or certification is considered an asset.
  • Available to start quickly and interested in a temporary opportunity with the potential to become permanent.
