We're looking for a Finance Manager who brings strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach to leading a high-performing accounting function. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, you'll lead and develop a team of accountants while overseeing core accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury, controls, and compliance across our Canadian and U.S. entities. You'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial results, while also looking for opportunities to strengthen processes, improve controls, and make the way we work smarter and more efficient.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of accountants and a senior accountant
  • Manage and oversee the Purchase Order (PO) process, including approval workflows, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies
  • Manage and lead core accounting processes including review and approval of monthly journal entries, accounts payable, payroll entries, indirect taxes, revenue recognition, COGS, operating expenses, and inventory valuation and movement
  • Manage and lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial results with supporting information for the business
  • Conduct variance analysis, provide recommendations and support to resolve identified gaps
  • Support the annual external audit process, including coordinating with the accounting team for all required documentation
  • Oversee treasury functions including daily cash management, bank reconciliations, liquidity monitoring, approving payments on bank portals and managing banking relationships
  • Review monthly accruals and prepayment schedules ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Manage and oversee lease accounting in compliance with ASC 842, including lease classification, initial recognition, remeasurement, and disclosure requirements
  • Lead the consolidation of multi-currency entities, including intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation adjustments
  • Perform and review FX revaluation processes, ensuring accurate recording of foreign exchange gains and losses
  • Coordinate and negotiate insurance policies, assess and review coverage regularly and as needed
  • Oversee financial controls with monthly BS reconciliations review and proposing timely adjustments
  • Develop, maintain, and perform ongoing testing of implementation of policies and procedures for key areas including inventory, coupon, gift cards, expenses, travel and credit cards, etc.
  • Provide analytical, compliance, reconciliation, cost control and management support to cross functional teams
  • Work closely with the Tax Manager to support annual corporate tax filings for US and Canadian entities, helping with the transfer pricing process and related journal entries, and assisting with tax audits, as required
  • Work with FP&A to provide analytics as needed
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Sr. Director Finance as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA / CA / CGA / CMA)
  • Expert-level proficiency in Sage X3 is required
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting standards
  • Proven experience in consolidation of multi-currency entities including intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation
  • Strong understanding of FX revaluation processes and foreign exchange accounting
  • Experience managing treasury functions including cash management
  • Experience with monthly accruals and prepayment management
  • Knowledge/experience in USA and Canadian taxes is an asset
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and provide meaningful insights and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with other departments within the company
  • Exceptional communicator, both verbal and written
  • Ability to inspire, engage, and motivate teams to achieve results and success with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Focus on managing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • A team leader who is keen to take ownership of tasks and support other team members, and someone who can effectively collaborate and work with other functions
  • Experience in the retail industry is an asset

Compensation & Benefits:
